You may have seen the advertisements placed in a number of daily newspapers recently. If you have purchased a leather sofa or recliner in the last three years or so and have had any symptoms such as a rash or breathing problems you should contact us immediately on 0800 884 0719.
We are currently helping hundreds of people who have developed skin allergies and burns after purchasing leather furniture from a range of furniture retailers including Argos, Land of Leather, SCS and Harveys.
Our Personal Injury team have also been closely involved in the disclosure of scientific evidence identifying Dimethyl Fumarate (DMF) as a causative agent in a sample of furniture from Argos. DMF is a chemical fungicide which has been used as an anti moulding agent. The findings have been reported on the BBC Watchdog programme.
The application for a Group Litigation Order to allow those affected by contaminated leather furniture causing “sofa burns” to sue Argos, Land of Leather and Walmsleys was approved by Mr Justice Colman Treacy on 5 June in Nottingham Crown Court.
Over a thousand people are known to be preparing to bring formal claims against the furniture retailers. We are acting for a significant number of those who have suffered rashes, skin allergies, burns, respiratory problems and other side effects.
If you have suffered skin irritation after purchasing leather furniture from any retail outlet please contact us on 0800 884 0719 or e mail us on advice@claims-personalinjury.com to discuss your claim.
