Ski Accidents: Take swift legal advice
Julia Appleton – a leading personal injury lawyer advises:
“It is important to take swift legal advice when you are involved in an accident whilst skiing or snowboarding especially if this happens when you are abroad.
There are a number of situations where a personal injury claim can arise and this includes inadequate skiing tuition, defective lifts and ski equipment, reckless behaviour of another skier and injury as a result of slipping on ice or snow which has not been cleared away from walkways at the hotel or in the resort.
It is now possible to make a claim for compensation against a Tour Operator through the English Courts.
Where the accident happens outside Europe consideration will need to be given as to the appropriate country to start any legal action and this will depend on a number of factors including where any agreement in respect of a holiday was signed.
If you consider that a skiing accident was not your fault and could have been prevented then you may have a claim for compensation.”
If you require expert legal advice on making a claim for compensation for personal injury after your holiday please contact lawyers Kim Smerdon or Julia Appleton in our specialist Personal Injury group.
