Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority

We have advised numerous criminal injury victims in claims for compensation and have won substantial awards for many of our clients.  Our criminal injury lawyers are experienced in obtaining the necessary information required to successfully bring a claim for compensation and we will give you the representation you need at every stage.

These are often life changing events and we will deal sympathetically with you whilst at the same time proactively pursuing compensation for your loss.  If you have been a victim of a crime – whether a physical or sexual assault or a mugging then we may be able to help you claim compensation.

We will help you apply for compensation to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) an organisation created by the government to compensate victims of violent crimes.

You should report the crime to the police as soon as possible in order to assist catching the offender.  However, even if your attacker is not known or charged with an offence, you can still apply for compensation for your criminal injuries and other losses, for example loss of earnings, care, equipment and so on.

You should usually make your application within two years although there are some exceptions to this, for example, claims from the very young or elderly.

Fatal Injuries - Death from violent crime

Relatives of someone who has died as a result of violent crime can also make a claim for compensation. Find out more by clicking on making a claim for injury during a violent crime.
